About

Rachel Orpano

“I want to create an environment where my clients feel safe enough to hold space for the big emotions.”

Why I became a therapist

I remember the exact moment I first felt heard and understood in therapy, and it was one of the most healing experiences I have ever had. It felt like I could take a breath after holding it in for so long. I feel so grateful to be on the other side and give others that monumental moment. I want to create an environment where my clients feel safe enough to hold space for their big and small emotions. I believe my clients are the experts of their experiences and my goal is to support you in your understanding and exploration of your story.

Who I work with

I currently work with families, couples, and individuals of all ages. Being biracial and growing up in a multicultural household, I’m uniquely qualified to work with multicultural families, multigenerational households, interracial couples, and individuals looking to explore their different identities. Additionally, I specialize in grief and loss. Grief and loss are complex and powerful emotions that are universally experienced. There are many different types of loss a person experiences throughout their lifetime and I feel privileged to help anyone navigate those difficulties. Some of my other areas of focus include complex trauma and PTSD, family dynamics including large or extended families, and OCD.

Working With Me

I’m a strong analytical thinker who values a deep understanding of self and other perspectives. I approach the world and therapy systemically which means I consider the societal, political, cultural, and social contexts that each of my clients exist in. My approach when working with couples is to help create deeper connections with each other through improved communication and understanding. When working with families, I aim to amplify each individual’s voice and encourage sharing perspectives to increase understanding and connection within the family unit. My hope for all of my clients is that we are able to build trust and safety in yourself, your relationships, and other contexts you exist in.
