Why I became a therapist

Hi, my name is Maegan and my pronouns are she/her/hers. I am a master’s level clinical social worker. I became a therapist because I believe that the mental health of individuals is closely connected to our relationships and the environment around us. As such, I believe that our relationships and communities should be places of healing, and that the therapist-client relationship is one that can facilitate this healing.

Who I work with

I have worked with a wide variety of ages, from infants to older adults. Currently, I work with adolescents and adults. My specialities include working with people experiencing life transitions, survivors of trauma, queer and trans people, people of color, and disabled folks. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming, kink affirming, and sex positive. I also work with polyamorous and non-monogamous people, as well as those with other alternative relationship orientations. Additionally, I have experience working with folks with substance use concerns, adoptees, religious minorities, sex workers, and neurodivergent people.

"I aim to be trauma-informed, anti-oppressive and to cultivate an environment where both the people I work with and I are able to show up as our authentic selves."

Working With Me

As a clinician I aim to work collaboratively with you. I am a firm believer that every person is the expert of their own lives and that extends to the therapy room. I utilize an integrative social justice oriented approach that takes an individual’s whole environment into account. I am influenced by a variety of evidence-based practices, including DBT, ACT, internal family systems, feminist therapy, and psychodynamic therapy. I am an Indo-Caribbean woman with several other marginalized identities that have impacted the way I personally view affirming and culturally responsive care. I am constantly examining my own privileges and oppressions and how that may show up when working with clients. I aim to be trauma-informed, anti-oppressive and to cultivate an environment where both the people I work with and I are able to show up as our authentic selves.
