Why I became a therapist

Hi, my name is Jessie! I am a master’s level therapist with a special interest in social justice and women’s issues. I have always been drawn to psychology and the ways in which intersectionality can affect the ways we are taught to think about ourselves and those around us. As a therapist, I enjoy creating a safe space for individuals to express their thoughts and emotions out loud and judgment-free. It can be easy to lose ourselves in the hustle and bustle of everyday life, so I aim to help individuals slow down their thoughts enough to be able to listen to what personal needs may be going unmet. I became a therapist in hopes of normalizing holding space for the thoughts and emotions that are sometimes uncomfortable to talk about, but are essential to work through in order to cultivate a more peaceful and intentional future.

Who I work with

I work with individuals navigating mental health issues such as depression and anxiety. I have experience working with a wide age range, spanning from adolescents to older adults. My clinical experience has included supporting individuals going through relationship issues, life-stage transitions, and unhealthy self-talk. As a daughter of immigrants, I have a special interest in working with individuals from diverse backgrounds within the BIPOC/AAPI communities. If you are truly willing to put in work to better yourself, I am willing to provide a space for your growth journey.

"Our lives are not stagnant, we move and change along with the seasons. I recognize that everyone has a story and each part of that story helps mold us into who we become."

Working With Me

I practice using strengths-based, relational, and psychodynamic theoretical approaches. Our lives are not stagnant, we move and change along with the seasons. I recognize that everyone has a story and each part of that story helps mold us into who we become. While we cannot spend our days ruminating on the past, we can use our stories to embolden our futures. I believe momentous life events can have a significant impact on someone, even well after those events occur. While it is impossible to slow the world down, we can work together to process the emotions and thoughts that may be keeping you from being your most well-informed and well-equipped self.
