About
"I became a therapist because I consider it a deeply worthwhile endeavor; to support fellow human beings with their individual development and unfoldment is meaningful, important work."
Why I became a therapist
I became a therapist in large part because therapy changed my own life for the better when I was a teen. The healing space offered was so significant and transformative for me that I was inspired to foster the same kind of space for others. I also became a therapist because I consider it a deeply worthwhile endeavor; to support fellow human beings with their individual development and unfoldment is meaningful, important work. What motivates me is the thought of a society with more people healing, individually and collectively. It gives me hope to know that so many people are invested in their own growth and healing as human beings. Consistently offering therapeutic space is a task that requires me to be present to each client’s transformational process and I feel incredibly grateful to witness this process for each client in every session. I believe that our world inevitably benefits from the work that is done in a therapeutic space.
Who I work with
I work with clients drawn to their own journey of wellness and healing, wherever they may be along that journey. Thus far in my career I have worked with children, adolescents and adults who have gone through a range of experiences. Some have survived family and community trauma, domestic violence, being unhoused and experiencing discrimination and marginalization. Others experience anxiety, trauma and depression, as well as other life transitions and stressors. Additionally, I enjoy working with individuals and couples on their relationships and all of the intricacies and complexities those involve. I also work with my clients on topics such as identity, values and spirituality.
"I hope that with me, clients have an experience of therapy that inspires them, activates their curiosity, and effectively supports them with making the changes they want to make for themselves."
Working With Me
I approach the therapeutic space with respect and authenticity. I also try to engage different learning formats and include visual, auditory and kinesthetic variations (memes are welcome!) I view my role as coming alongside clients and supporting their self-determination. I also implement Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy, known as EMDR, along with trauma-informed cognitive behavioral and narrative approaches. One of the primary benefits of therapy is the formation of a space where there is psychological safety: no question or thought is disallowed, and a person can go deeply within themselves to make discoveries and evolve. Experiencing this space consistently can be beneficial to that process of growth and I hope that it is an experience that provides significance. I hope that with me, clients have an experience of therapy that inspires them, activates their curiosity, and effectively supports them with making the changes they want to make for themselves.
