About

Breanna Marcelin

“My goal in the therapeutic space is to allow you to feel comfortable to show up as you are – without judgment.”

Why I became a therapist

I initially developed an interest in psychology from courses in high school and college. This quickly developed into a desire of wanting to be a solid object and voice of compassion. I wanted to provide care for individuals of underserved communities after experiencing and witnessing many historic events of discrimination and injustice for many groups, including my own, throughout my early adulthood. These encounters shaped my view of the world and helped me understand how important maintaining our mental health is, especially in the face of adversity. My passion is fueled by the desire to reduce stigma around mental health treatment and provide representation for the positive benefits and impact therapy can have on one’s wellbeing. I believe that through the therapeutic alliance clients are able to experience opportunities of personal growth and understanding, which to me is the most fulfilling work.

Who I work with

I specialize in providing support to young adults, adults, and adolescents who are struggling with life transitions, relationship stressors, and identity struggles. I have experience in helping clients process through mood and anxiety disorders and related substance use, trauma, career and academic stress, and relationship concerns. With a background in providing support to communities of color and other marginalized communities, I understand the impact that different aspects of social identity and intersectionality can have on these concerns.

“We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope.” - MLK Jr.

Working With Me

My goal in the therapeutic space is to allow you to feel comfortable to show up as you are – without judgment. With an approach rooted in understanding and empathy, I create an open and warm space in which you can freely address any of your needs and concerns. Together, we will work to establish an alliance in which we can explore patterns of behavior, thoughts, and feelings you experience with curiosity and compassion. I strongly believe that you, as the client, are already resilient and capable of achieving your treatment goals, and through therapy I strive to make you feel empowered and encouraged to do so.
