Anna Hubar

Anna Hubar, an LPC candidate, attends the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program (MA) at Northeastern Illinois University. She specializes in working with life transitions, anxiety, grief, and childhood relational or attachment trauma. Anna works with both adolescents and adult individuals. Anna is a member of the American Counseling Association and received training in the Basics of Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Practice.

Jasmine Capo

Jasmine Capo, an MFT candidate, attends the Couples and Family Counseling program (MA) at Northeastern Illinois University. She specializes in working with anxiety, depression, relationship and attachment concerns, self-esteem difficulties, as well as grief and trauma. Jasmine works with individuals, couples, and families and is also a member of the American Counseling Association.

Building Resilience Through Emotional Regulation: Foundations for Personal Development

Emotional regulation is the ability to manage and respond to emotional experiences that are constructive and adaptive. These skills include recognizing emotions, understanding their causes, and using strategies like deep breathing or positive self-talk to stay calm, thereby enhancing overall emotional well-being and resilience. This workshop aims to equip participants with practical tools and strategies to understand their emotional responses and triggers, and improve their emotional regulation skills, fostering healthier relationships and promoting psychological stability.This workshop will be hosted through Zoom (link available after sign-up). This training is free and open to folks of all knowledge levels to come and explore new ways of building resiliency.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

1. Increase awareness: Participants will understand what emotions are, why they are important, how they function, and the impact of emotions on behavior and decision-making.

2. Identify emotions: Participants will use an emotion wheel to identify and articulate their current emotions, enhancing self-awareness.

3.Identify triggers: Participants will learn to recognize their emotional triggers and patterns as well as recognize physical signs of strong emotions like anger, sadness, or anxiety.

4. Develop coping skills: Participants will learn to treat themselves with kindness, compassion, and understanding by learning techniques to help regulate their emotions such as mindfulness, deep breathing, and cognitive restructuring.
