About
Why I Became a Therapist
I am currently only taking new clients who identify as QTBIPOC or sick/mad/disabled people of color. Hi there, my name is Mi (he/they) and I’m a queer, genderqueer, neurodivergent immigrant therapist. I became a therapist because I grew up experiencing the lack of identity-affirming mental health resources accessible for multiply oppressed individuals, particularly sick/mad/disabled, queer and trans people of color (SDQTBIPOC). My lived experiences continue to drive my passion for changing this narrative by facilitating spaces of self-reflection, accountability, and growth. I am a firm believer in the power of individual transformations and actively work (in my career and personal life) to build communities of abundance and movements that demand equity and change. My friends and chosen family describe me as empathetic, supportive, funny, and (at times) exceedingly honest – all of which are traits I incorporate into my practice.
Who I Work With
I prioritize working with SDQTBIPOC individuals of all ages, but particularly late adolescents and emerging/young adults. I am 2SLGBTQIA+ affirming, sex and kink positive, and experienced in helping navigate poly & non-monogamous relationships. I also specialize in exploring and building skills/resources with neurodivergent individuals. My therapeutic approach is largely shaped by principles of liberatory movements such as Disability Justice and Healing Justice. I also utilize techniques from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Psychodynamic theory in sessions.
“Every person is the expert of their own experiences, and I deeply value collaborating with my clients in creating a safe space that encourages vulnerability and healing.”
Working With ME
Everyone enters therapy with different goals. Whether a person is very clear on what they want to accomplish or still figuring things out, I encourage them to make choices at their own pace. I believe every person is the expert of their own experiences, and I deeply value collaborating with my clients in creating a safe space that encourages vulnerability and healing. My goal as a therapist is to support my clients in identifying and reclaiming their power in the face of systemic oppression and various circumstances. I enjoy walking with folks throughout their journey, but also hold them accountable for their growth by asking mindful and thought-provoking questions. Above all else, I make sure my clients feel affirmed and empowered in their identities to navigate their environments.
